Light Farm 2012

About This Project

This work is to create a public art that resembles the farms in Taiwan with lighting, to remind the people living in the city about the rural tradition and culture of Taiwan.

It is an outdoor interactive light installation made in collaboration with architect Hom Liou (Woo-Yo Co., Ltd.) and Kevin Lai.It consists of 200+ custom made flexible light rods laid on the ground reminiscent of the rice fields in Taiwan countryside. There are two types of interaction with the environment, with the wind and live music. The video shown here is interaction with the background wind. If the sensor picks up wind, then the lights respond by moving across the field like a wave. Otherwise, the lighting is in the random mode.
