Light Forest 2016

About This Project

Light Forest is a kinetic light sculpture that transforms the natural movement by gravity into dynamic lighting. It attempts to let the force of nature work to create its own aesthetics.

The mechanism is based on the ancient Chinese toy known as the Jacob’s Ladder. A number of mirror-surfaced plates are connected vertically in series by straps in such a way that the plates flip consecutively from the top to the bottom. The descending dynamics evokes clapping sound and reflection to the surrounding environment, creating a captivating immersive experience for the viewers.
